How Parents Can Provide Exam Help

Exam periods can be a draining and stressful time for both students and parents alike. Although the load is of course upon the students to revise and prepare for their examinations, parents can also help play an important role in ensuring they have everything they need to succeed. However, finding the balance between support and suffocation can become a tricky business and one that can have an unpleasant impact if not negotiated properly.

So just how can you provide assistance to your kids this exam season?
All students should have their exam study timetable. This time table helps to categorize when to study and what subject to study. As Parents you can ensure to have a copy of the timetable in order to follow up adequately. You can also help by pasting the calendar by their bed, family room or on a fridge. This serves as a constant reminder, which can always prompt the student to study.

In today’s digital age there are all sorts of distractions from mobile phones, tablets and of course, TV. Students need discipline here and no one is better placed to provide that than you, the parent. All screen time should be limited, you have to make sure your child understands it’s just a sacrifice for a period of time.

Getting a good 8 hours of sleep at night has been proven to be essential and help improve cognitive function, which is clearly crucial to revising properly and then executing this knowledge in their exams. As much as we would like them to study hard, it is also important that they get a good night’s sleep.

Insinuating an incentive when your kids perform beyond expectation can be a great motivation. This method works best when you understand what your child really likes. This can be effective ( depending on the child) in getting your wards to study knowing they have a price waiting for them.
